Medical Letter (Med Ltr) follows a Single-Blind Peer Review process. In this system, reviewers know the identity of the authors, while the identities of reviewers remain confidential.

 

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability for the journal's scope, quality, and ethical compliance. Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to expert reviewers for evaluation.

 

Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

 

  • Evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and professionally.
  • Assess the originality, scientific quality, methodology, and significance of the research.
  • Provide constructive comments that help authors improve their manuscripts.
  • Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
  • Inform the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or research misconduct.
  • Complete reviews within the assigned review period.

 

Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

 

Reviewers must not:

 

  • Share manuscripts with unauthorized individuals.
  • Use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.
  • Discuss manuscript content outside the peer-review process.

 

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline review invitations if they have any conflict of interest arising from:

 

  • Personal relationships with the authors.
  • Collaborative or competitive relationships.
  • Financial or institutional interests related to the research.

 

Any potential conflict of interest should be disclosed to the Editorial Office before accepting the review assignment.

 

Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

 

Originality

  • Does the manuscript provide new knowledge or insights?

 

Scientific Quality

 

  • Is the study design appropriate?
  • Are the methods clearly described and reproducible?

 

Results and Interpretation

 

  • Are the results clearly presented and supported by data?
  • Are the conclusions justified by the findings?

 

Relevance

 

  • Is the manuscript relevant to the scope of Medical Letter?

 

Presentation

 

  • Is the manuscript well organized and written in clear English?
  • Are tables, figures, and references appropriate?

 

Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

 

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

 

The final publication decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

 

Ethical Responsibilities

Reviewers should report any concerns regarding:

 

  • Plagiarism
  • Duplicate publication
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Ethical issues involving human or animal research
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

 

Review Timeline

Reviewers are encouraged to submit their reports within 2–4 weeks of accepting the review invitation. Timely reviews help ensure an efficient editorial process and rapid publication of quality research.
